Manly Warringah Sea Eagles defeated the Brisbane Broncos 11-8 in their opening game of the NRL Auckland Nines tournament at Eden Park today.

The match marked the first game for new Sea Eagles Coach Trent Barrett.

The Broncos opened the scoring with a blindside try to Tom Opacic for a 4-0 lead. The Sea Eagles had a chance to score in the fifth minute but winger Fabian Goodall went into touch. The score remained 4-0 at half-time.

The Sea Eagles took a 5-4 lead in the ninth minute when Tom Trbojevic found open space to send an inside ball inside for his brother and captain Jake Trbojevic to score under the posts for a super try (5 points). Tom converted the try for a 7-4 lead.
