Hooker Matt Parcell says the opportunity to play more in the NRL was the reason for choosing the Manly Sea Eagles as his home for the next three seasons.

Speaking to The Courier Mail after scoring a record five tries yesterday for Ipswich Jets in a Queensland Cup semi-final, Parcell wants to secure the number nine Sea Eagles jersey under new Coach Trent Barrett.

Parcell is rated as the best rugby league talent yet to secure an NRL position.

He will be involved in a three-way battle with new Penrith signing and grand final-winning hooker Apisai Koroisau and incumbent hooker and two-time premiership-winning hooker Matt Ballin.
