Australian actor and passionate Manly supporter Hugh Jackman will join thousands of fans in trying to lift the Sea Eagles to a must win victory at Brookvale Oval on Friday night.
Speaking to Triple M’s Grill Team on Sydney radio this morning, Jackman revealed he will be in the crowd watching his beloved Manly Warringah Seas Eagles take on the Sydney Roosters – the team his childhood friend and Grill Team co-host Gus Worland follows.
The Sea Eagles must beat the Roosters to keep their finals hopes in what is the final home game of the season, and the last at Fortress Brookvale for Coach Geoff Toovey.
“It is going to be the game of the season. It is all on the line, and the last one for Toovs,’’ Jackman said on the Grill Team.
“(Toovs) is class. He is one of those guys as a player and as a coach who left everything on the field and for the team.”
When informed of the support from Jackman, Toovey remained very humble.
“It is nice of him. I’m a big supporter of his as well, like most Australians are,’’ Toovey said.
“I’ve met Hugh a couple of times before when he has been at our games. He is a very genuine Manly fan and a great knockabout Australian.
“It is great for him to come down (to Brookie) and let the fans and the players know that he is part of the (Manly) family.”
