Sea Eagles captain Jamie Lyon only needs to get through the final training session tomorrow to make a welcome return to Brookvale Oval this Sunday.
Lyon has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Manly Warringah’s round 13 loss to the Brisbane Broncos on June 5.
The premiership winning captain has been training well this week and looks set to return to the side providing he pulls through the final session tomorrow.
Coach Geoff Toovey said Lyon would possibly replace Peta Hiku, who has a minor leg injury.
Toovey expects a big game from half-back Daly Cherry-Evans after he was dropped from the Qld team for Origin three next Wednesday night.
“I think he will have a wow of a game this Sunday. He is determined to put in a good performance,’’ Toovey said.
“We need to start winning some games and what better way than to do it on a Sunday at Brookvale.
“Our fans will be turning out in droves, the sun will be out, and I think they will see a great performance from a great Manly side.
“The Sharks will be tough to beat. We saw them come from behind against the Cowboys last week. They are a quality side right across the park.
“It will be a very interesting contest, especially in the forwards. They play a very tough rugged style of football and have a quality back-row in Luke Lewis and Wade Graham.
“They have a potent backline in Michael Gordon and Ben Barba who will look to build off their tough forward pack.”
