Manly Warringah Head Coach Geoff Toovey expects half-back Daly Cherry-Evans to shine for the Sea Eagles in Brisbane tomorrow night.
Speaking at Brisbane Airport upon the team’s arrival, Toovey confirmed Cherry-Evans will play against the Broncos after overcoming a shoulder injury.
Toovey said that with his half-back now a ‘Sea Eagle for Life’, Cherry-Evans is set for an almighty game against the competition leaders.
“He is excited to be playing and I think he will go really well,’’ Toovey said.
“Daly is a true professional and now that his future is settled at Manly, he is thrilled to be here.”
Brisbane Coach Wayne Bennett has asked Queensland supporters to not ‘boo’ one of their own after Cherry-Evans decided to stay at Brookvale instead of heading to the Gold Coast.
Toovey said he had no doubt his gun number seven will receive some ‘boos’.
“He will thrive under those conditions and is a big stage player. I think you will see that tomorrow night,’’ Toovey said.
“Wayne loves rugby league and he understands the situation Daly was put in. He made a choice and now we have to get on with it.
“Rugby league is a passionate game played by passionate people and followed by passionate fans. I have no doubt they will be booing him but there will be plenty of cheering (for him) as well.”
