Hooker Matt Ballin enjoyed yet another strong and consistent season in 2014.
Ballin recorded a season high 61 tackles in round five against the West Tigers and managed to exceed the 50-tackle mark seven times this season. He averaged 43 tackles and played all bar three matches this season.
Ballin’s running game out of hooker flourished this year. He averaged 46 metres out of dummy half, ensuring he remained a constant threat to the opposition defensive line.
His service out of dummy half is unquestionable and the leadership that he brings to the side is invaluable.
Ballin’s remarkable 182 game run came to an end this year when he fractured his leg in round 25 against the Penrith Panthers. His presence and experience was sorely missed in the middle of the park throughout the Sea Eagles’ finals campaign.
