The Cowboys started with plenty of intent, and two tries to veteran Brent Tate and one to Kyle Feldt meant that they skipped out to a 14-6 halftime lead.

Manly fought back late in the second half to have the scores levelled at 20 a piece, but a field goal by Cowboys play-maker Johnathan Thurston separated the sides with five minutes to play.

With three minutes to play, Kieran Foran came up with the match winning play when he ran it on the last tackle and put Jamie Buhrer over for a try.
