The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have secured the ongoing services of talented young forward Jesse Sene-Lefao with the Samoan international agreeing to a new two-year-deal at the Club.

Sene-Lefao’s re-signing is a big boost for Sea Eagles ahead of the blockbuster match against the Sydney Roosters this Friday, June 27 at 7:40pm AEST.

The 24-year-old has played a total of 14 NRL matches in his career so far and his new deal will see him remain at the Club until at least the end of the 2016 season.

“I’m really excited to be staying with the Sea Eagles for the next two years,” Sene-Lefao said.

“Manly showed a lot of faith by brining me over here last year. They have given me the opportunity to test myself at the highest level and I’m grateful for that.”

“Now that I have sorted my future, I just want to finish this year strong, get better and learn even more from all the boys.”

Born in New Zealand, Jesse came to Australia when he was ten years old. He spent his junior years at Penrith Brothers, progressing through the Penrith junior system before making the move to Manly Warringah at the start of 2013. Sene-Lefao made his NRL debut in Round 1 of the 2013 season against the Brisbane Broncos and also made his representative debut for Samoa earlier this year.

“Now that I have sorted my future, I just want to finish this year strong, get better and learn even more from all the boys.”

Head Coach Geoff Toovey said Sene-Lefao’s re-signing is great news for the Club.

“I’m really happy that Jesse has committed to the Sea Eagles,” Toovey said.

“He brings a real energy and enthusiasm to the team every time he plays and has shown this year that he has the skills, strength and power to succeed at the top level.”

“It’s always positive news for everyone when a player who has been given the opportunity by the Club at NRL level wants to stay.”

“Jesse and all our young forwards have really impressed this year and we’re expecting more of the same from all of them with the business end of the season fast approaching.”

Sea Eagles General Manager David Perry said Sene-Lefao is a great talent and his new contract is thoroughly deserved.

“Jesse has been in fantastic form this season. His impact off the bench has undoubtedly helped the team to where we sit on the NRL ladder and his re-signing is just rewards.”

"To retain him despite interest from other clubs is a real achievement and something the Club should be proud of.”
