Gutherson not resting on laurels

It was a huge year for Sea Eagles rookie Clinton Gutherson. He was selected for both his state and country and made his much-anticipated NRL debut, but hes certainly not ready to rest on his laurels.

Like all the other Sea Eagle recruits attempting to impress and improve in the lead up to the 2014 NRL season, theres no doubt Gutherson is throwing everything into all aspects of his training.

Its been a tough start but thats always good to get the body into it and Im looking forward to the next few weeks before we break for Christmas, Gutherson said.

However, Gutherson commences 2014 preseason training with an advantage over most of his fellow Sea Eagles young guns.

Along with fellow debutant Jake Trbojevic, the 19-year-old has been training among the senior squad and soaking up their experience for almost two seasons.

They will know what to do and they will help push us young blokes and new boys leading into next season and hopefully have a good year!

Recognised for his diverse skill and speed and having played at representative level since the age of 16, the young utility is able to adapt to cover a number of positions within the backline.

Along with many hopefuls at the club, Gutherson is aware of the task at hand, determined to do what it takes to ultimately cement his position within the Manly first grade side.

I just want to keep learning from the older boys, the new boys, coaches, and just to try play consistent footy for whatever team Im in and try and get to the NRL, he said.

Hopefully I get a few more games but well see what happens and just go with what the coach says.
