Centre Oliver Lawry fends off the Warriors in Auckland today

The chance to secure back-to-back back wins for the second time this season awaits the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the Jersey Flegg Cup on Sunday, April 21.

The Sea Eagles head to the Shire to take on the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks on the back of a determined 20-16 win over the Warriors in Auckland last Saturday after the scores were locked 6-all at half-time.

A strong first half defensive display laid the platform in a match the Sea Eagles were always in control of against the winless Warriors to record their third victory in five games after having their previous week’s match postponed.

The Sea Eagles ran in tries to second-rower Broden Konz, winger Una Uasi, and forward Jesse Jackson with full-back Blake Metcalfe kicking four goals, including a beautiful sideline conversion in windy conditions.

“I was really happy with our defensive effort in that first half, having to defend seven sets in a row,’’ said Manly Coach Scott Kenna.

“Blake was good in cleaning up at the back. (Lock) Caleb Navale was really good through the middle and his effort off the ball in defusing a late try was fantastic.

“We are looking to replicate (back-to-back wins) again this week with a freshen up week after a fatiguing travel trip to New Zealand.”
