Today - September 16, 2020 - marks 48 years since the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles claimed their inaugural NSWRL first grade premiership title in 1972.
The Sea Eagles recorded a 19-14 victory over the Eastern Suburbs Roosters under Coach Ron Willey and the captaincy of Fred Jones.
It was Manly's sixth attempt at winning a premiership and came 25 years after entering the competition in 1947.
