The last time Matthew Wright played the Nth Qld Cowboys, he hardly had time to get to know his new Manly team-mates.
The Sea Eagles announced the signing of the former Cronulla Sharks and North Queensland player on a three year deal on Friday, April 22.
The following Tuesday, Wright was named on the wing by Manly Coach Trent Barrett. Four days later, Wright ran out in jersey number 20 to make his Sea Eagles debut against the Cowboys at Brookvale Oval.
“It was a bit weird at first, arriving at Manly and playing against the Cowboys. It has been a good move for me. I have no regrets,’’ Wright said.
This Monday night, Wright will run onto his old Cowboys turf, hoping to cause a Manly stampede in upsetting the premiers on their home ground for the first time this season.
Marking Wright will be his good mate in Antonio Winterstein. The powerful Cowboys winger has crossed for nine tries in 14 games this season.
Wright will be looking to score his first for Manly after six appearances in the maroon and white.
“I’ve already got a few texts from the boys (at the Cowboys) trying to stir things up, ‘’ he laughed.
“’I know a few of their secrets so I may have to share them with ‘Baz’.
“I’m really enjoying my time at Manly now. The players have accepted me well and I am use to their structures now.
“We are all working hard for each other and the mood is really positive still.”
