The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have extended the contract of powerhouse winger Jorge Taufua for a further three seasons.

Taufua’s re-signing coincides nicely with a return to the NRL side for Monday night's game against the St. George Illawarra Dragons and is another positive boost to the Club’s future playing stocks following the recent re-sginings of Jesse Sene-Lefao and Peta Hiku.

The agreement will keep the 22-year-old at the club until the end of the 2017 season.

“It’s very exciting for my family and myself. I’m enjoying my time here and I’m excited for the next couple of years at the Sea Eagles,” Taufua said.

“It’s a big relief for my family and myself. My parents are very excited for me and proud of what I’ve achieved.”

Taufua has been an integral part of Geoff Toovey’s set-up since making his first grade debut in 2012. The prolific try scorer has scored 38 tries in 58 appearances.

An impressive debut season saw the winger named Sea Eagles Rookie of the Year. He has since gone on to represent City Origin in its past two fixtures, as well as making his International debut for Tonga at the World Cup last year.

A humble Taufua paid tribute to the support of Sea Eagles members and fans.

“I’d love to acknowledge our Members and fans. They are the backbone behind our success I think, especially at Brookvale Oval. We’re pretty successful here,” Taufua said.

“Thank you for all your support.”

Head coach Geoff Toovey said he was pleased to see Taufua extend his stay on the northern beaches.

“I’m very happy to see Jorge commit to the Club,” Toovey said.

“He’s a clever player with incredible strength and power. It’s great news for the Club, Jorge and his family and we’re looking forward to the next three seasons with him."

“He’s been an big part of our success over the past few years and I’m expecting the same from him as we approach the business end of the season."

Sea Eagles General Manager David Perry said Taufua is a great talent and his new contract is thoroughly deserved.

"He’s an exciting talent who can sniff out a try from just about anywhere on the field. We’re delighted that Jorge is remaining at the Club for the next few years." Perry said.

“He is always been a fan favourite since making his debut and we’re extremely pleased to have secured his services."
