Vale Jim Peebles 29/4/1931 – 9/2/2013
A Life member of the Sea Eagles Club, former Football Club Board member and player who answered to the nickname “Streakey”.
Jim played 121 games for the Sea Eagles and was the 83rd club player to pull on the Maroon and White.
Jim is survived by his wife, Doreen and daughters, Carolyn, Janine and Leanne. He will be missed.
The funeral is to be held at;
Macquarie Park Crematorium, Palm Chapel at 10:15am, Friday 15th Feb.
SEOBA Office-holders elected
The Sea Eagles Old Boys Association held a meeting at Manly Leagues Club to elect office holders on Friday, July 7th 2012.
David Kenney, managing partner at Hall Chadwick Chartered Accountants, was available to advise regarding best entity structure and to oversee the election of officers.
The following ex-players were elected at this meeting:
- Darrell Williams - Chairman
- Ian Thompson - Vice Chairman
- Phillip Dean - Secretary
- Brook Eadie - Treasurer
- David Hosking - Committee Member
SEOBA Structure
This new entity has the full support of the Manly Warringah Rugby League and Football Clubs.
SEOBA is also a new membership category that maintains a relationship with the Manly Warringah Rugby League Clubs, but is essentially a stand- alone entity that is administered by its own members.
The President or Committee will have the authority to deny membership to any applicant deemed to have bought the Club into disrepute through previous actions and behaviour detrimental to the Club.
A committee creates and co-ordinates activities to ensure we meet our stated objectives. Eventually SEOBA will have its own constitution.
SEOBA is a proactive institution aimed at supporting the local district via its fundraising activities in accordance with its objectives.
A member from either the Manly Warringah Rugby League Football or Leagues Clubs will provide a candidate to sit on all committee meetings essentially for reporting purposes and to facilitate the on-going relationship dynamics.
Eligibility for this membership will be opened in three (3) stages:
1. Ex-players having played a minimum of One(1) year of GRADE football with the Manly Warringah Rugby League Football Club (M.W.R.L.F.C)
2. Any official staff in any capacity that worked with the M.W.R.L.F.C for a minimum three (3) years.
3. Associate membership can include sponsors, celebrities, suppliers and other persons deemed to have made significant contributions to the Club in the past, present or future. The committee will retain final approval when this stage is opened as to who is accepted or not.
SEOBA Objectives
Create a social platform for ex-players to reconnect with one another.
Form a pro-active membership to create and provide charitable events to generate revenue streams and marketing opportunities within the district.
To promote and market the Manly Sea Eagles locally, nationally and internationally.
To provide support to the local junior rugby league district clubs and schools.
To provide scholarship opportunities for young rugby league players in the district.
Assist with a re-connection to the Junior Rugby League District Clubs via the Manly Leagues Club.
Assist any members who have fallen on hard times via direct link and contact with the Men of League Foundation.
These objectives will bet met with regard to;
Philosophies and strategies as implemented under the M.W.R.L.F.C charter.
Full co-operation and reporting to the M.W.R.L.F.C
Incorporating the principles of “Best Practice”.
