Manly Warringah Sea Eagles recorded a crucial 36-18 victory over the Sydney Roosters at Lottoland today in round 22 of the Telstra Premiership.

In front of a crowd of 14,564, the Sea Eagles overcame an 18-10 half-time deficit to produce a fine second half to secure the two vital competition points to move to 28 points with four rounds remaining.

The Sea Eagles remain in seventh place but just two points behind third place.

The match marked the 100th NRL game for Manly centre Dylan Walker, the 50th NRL game for Sea Eagles full-back Tom Trbojevic, and the Manly club debut for Kelepi Tanginoa. Brad Parker was promoted to the team to replace Brian Kelly. 

A wealth of possession in the opening 10 minutes to Manly saw the Sea Eagles finally cross when winger Matthew Wright dived over in the corner after the ball was spread left. Wright failed to convert from the sideline for a 4-0 lead.

The Roosters then piled on three converted tries through Daniel Tupou, Latrell Mitchell, and Luke Keary. Mitchell converted all three tries for an 18-4 lead after 32 minutes.

A great break and offload by Manly second-rower Frank Winterstein saw him send an inside pass for full-back Tom Trbojevic to score in his 50th first grade game. Wright converted from in front of the posts for an 18-10 scoreline after 38 minutes.

The Sea Eagles started the second half off on the right note when Tom Trbojevic backed up on to score his second try behind the posts. Wright converted for an 18-16 scoreline after 49 minutes.

Sheer determination from Lewis Brown saw him use his strength to score under the posts in the 55th minute. Wright converted to give the Sea Eagles a 22-18 lead.

The Sea Eagles went to a 26-18 lead when centre Brad Parker sliced through a gap to hit the line hard to score. Wright converted for a 28-18 lead after 71 minutes.

Cherry-Evans converted a penalty goal four minutes later for a 30-18 lead before a break down the right flank by Akuila Uate saw DCE score behind te posts.

He converted his own try for a 36-18 victory.

Manly play Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, August 14, at 4pm, in round 23.
