There was a nice little cultural moment between the Sea Eagles and the Broncos prior to kick-off at Suncorp Stadium last Saturday night.

As part of the NRL Indigenous Round, Manly Captain Daly Cherry-Evans and Brisbane Captain Darius Boyd exchanged cultural gifts.

Manly’s gift to Brisbane was an Indigenous design Emu Egg. The artist, Elliot Knight, resides in Dubbo.

e started doing Indigenous artwork because he was inspired by his father, Glen Knight,  who taught Elliot all he knows today.

“This Aboriginal artwork defines people coming together as well as all different cultures and communities which rugby league plays a big role in that today,’’ Elliot said.

“It is important to acknowledge the Indigenous Round because it starts from the grass roots to get to the NRL.”

The Broncos' gift to the Sea Eagles can be seen in the photo above.
