Manly Warringah Sea Eagles centre Matthew Wright broke a bone in his left hand during contact training at Narrabeen today and will be out of action for four weeks.

Wright was due to play in the NRL Auckland Nines tournament on the weekend of February 4-5 with Head Coach Trent Barrett to decide on a replacement later in the week.

Barrett said Wright had been one of the club’s best performers in pre-season training and was devastated by his injury.

“Unfortunately there are plenty of collisions in training these days and Matthew was a victim of this,’’ Barrett said.

“The good news is that he will be fit for the start of the premiership against Parramatta Eels at Brookvale Oval on Sunday, March 5.”
