The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (MWSE) has received and considered the report prepared by independent integrity advisor Ray Murrihy.
Mr Murrihy was appointed by the Club in June to undertake a comprehensive review of the Club’s integrity framework and the final review has been delivered today.
In summarising the review, Mr Murrihy found no evidence of failure for MWSE to comply with NRL or MWSE policies and procedures. Mr Murrihy said:
“The Review found no evidence of non-compliance by the MWSE with current NRL and MWSE rules, codes, schedules and agreements.”
“The Club has been fully cooperative and transparent during the process by providing full access to officials, facilities and documentation.”
The review has made eight recommendations, all of which have been accepted by the Board.
Club Chairman Scott Penn says implementation of the recommendations has commenced.
“The Murrihy Review is an important part of our commitment to ensuring that we have a zero tolerance approach to integrity breaches.
“Further enhancement of our policies and procedures will ensure the Sea Eagles have best practice corporate governance. The Board accepts Ray’s recommendations, all of which will strengthen our existing integrity framework and help to protect players, members, supporters and sponsors from any improper behaviour by any individual.
Mr Penn said the review report has been shared with relevant authorities.
“When we started this process, I made a firm commitment that the Report would be made public, and that we would work with the NRL and other agencies to implement the recommendations.
“The Report has been sent to the NRL, the RLPA and the NSW Police Organised Crime Squad, and we have commenced implementation of the recommendations with a view to completion by the end of the 2016 NRL season.
With regard to further unsubstantiated claims made today, the Club will continue to fully cooperate with both the NRL and NSW Police in their investigation.
