Manly Warringah Sea Eagles suffered a 40-10 loss to Nth Qld Cowboys at 1300Smiles Stadium tonight in round 16 of the Holden Cup competition.

The Sea Eagles played strongly in the first half to only trail by six points at the break before the Cowboys pulled away late in the game. The loss leaves Manly on the bottom of the ladder with just one win for the season.

Manly opened the scoring through a try out wide to Jayden Hocking for a 4-0 lead after 17 minutes.

The Cowboys hit back to take a 6-4 lead through a 60 metre intercept try to winger Gideon Gela Mosby that was converted by half-back Cooper Bambling.

The home side then went to a 10-4 lead with a try to back-rower Hiale Roycroft. Bambling converted for a 12-4 lead.

Manly then trailed 12-8 through a try to five-eighth Nicho Hynes. Tremaine Brown converted to leave the Sea Eagles trailing 12-10 after 33 minutes.

The Cowboys took a 16-10 lead into half-time following a try to five-eighth Ty Carucci.

Second Half

Nth Qld extended their lead to 20-10 a minute after half-time through a try to winger Marcus Jensen.

A penalty goal in the 60th minute stretched the lead to 22-10 before hooker Brandon Smith scored a converted try next to the posts two minutes later for a 28-10 lead.

The Cowboys went to a 34-10 lead through a converted try to Nathan Traill in the 70th minute.

A converted try to Carucci in the 77th minute saw the Cowboys lead 40-10.
