Manly Warringah Sea Eagles suffered a 30-10 loss to Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium tonight in round 15 of the Telstra Premiership.

The defeat was Manly’s sixth straight loss since their last victory on Anzac Day against Newcastle in round eight. The Sea Eagles remain in 14th place and face premiers Nth Qld Cowboys in Townsville next Monday night.

The Sea Eagles went into the match missing five-eighth Jamie Lyon (hamstring) after he was originally named on Tuesday. Proud Manly junior Jake Trbojevic captained the side for the first time as a stand-alone skipper after sharing the duties last week with the now injured Nate Myles.

Prop Josh Starling played his 50th game for Manly.

The Titans opened the scoring with a converted try to prop Luke Douglas for a 6-0 lead after 13 minutes.

The home side then put on 10 points within five minutes through tries to winger Anthony Don and centre Josh Hoffman on the back off Manly mistakes for a 16-6 lead.

Manly opened their account with a converted try in the 29th minute when full-back Brett Stewart combined with centre Tom Trbojevic to send winger Jorge Taufua over for a try to leave the visitors trailing 16-6.

The Titans went to an 18-6 lead in the 38th minute through a Tyrone Roberts penalty goal and took that lead into half-time.

Second Half

The home side stretched their lead to 24-6 two minutes into the second half with a converted try to prop Ryan James.

Manly hit back with a try to centre Brayden Wiliame from a lovely cut out pass by Pita Godinet to leave the Sea Eagles trailing 24-10 after 57 minutes.

The Titans secured victory when winger Nene Macdonald pounced on a grubber kick to score. Roberts converted for a 30-10 lead after 74 minutes.

Manly winger Matthew Wright was put on report in the 78th minute for an alleged use of a shoulder on William Zillman.

Earlier tonight, Manly lost 54-24 in the Holden Cup to the Titans to remain on the bottom of the ladder.
