NRL Round 10
Manly Warringah Sea Eagles v Brisbane Broncos (7.30pm)
Melbourne Storm v North Queensland Cowboys (5.30pm)
Saturday 14 May 2016
Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have agreed to take part in an exciting new event partnership with Suncorp Stadium, Tourism & Events Queensland (TEQ) and the Melbourne Storm that is expected to become a major annual event on the NRL calendar.

The agreement will see the Sea Eagles play an annual home game against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium as part of a double header that also involves the Melbourne Storm hosting the North Queensland Cowboys. The event also coincides with the start of the Brisbane Racing Carnival.

The match will hold no fears for the Sea Eagles who have a strong record at Suncorp Stadium, where they have won 6 of their last nine matches. That record includes a 34-10 ‘home’ win against the Broncos as part of a double header played at the same venue in 2011.

Manly Warringah CEO Joe Kelly said the decision to play at Suncorp Stadium was a positive one for the Club on many levels.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our Members, Sponsors and supporters to enjoy a weekend in Brisbane that combines two blockbuster games of NRL and the Brisbane Racing Carnival,” Kelly said.

“We have always had a great deal of support north of the border with over 10% of our Members residing in South East Queensland.

“This sporting blockbuster will provide greater opportunities and exposure for our new and existing national and international corporate partners.

“We wouldn’t have considered a home game at Suncorp Stadium if it wasn’t commercially strong for the Club. This announcement is the culmination of lengthy discussions with eight venues across Australia and New Zealand over the last six months.”

The Sea Eagles have historically taken two home matches away from Brookvale Oval each year. In 2015 home matches were played in Albury and Gosford.

The Sea Eagles will soon announce a new official travel partner that will bundle packages for Sea Eagles Members and supporters for the Club’s interstate matches including the double header in Brisbane.

In addition to the quality of the teams involved, the attraction of the double header for rugby league fans is that they get two great games for the price of one.

Sea Eagles Members will be given an exclusive opportunity to pre-purchase tickets to the double header before they go on sale to the general public. The Member presale through Ticketek will commence at 11am on Tuesday 8th December and run until 11am Thursday 10th December. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Friday 11th December.
