Manly Warringah Sea Eagles tonight secured fourth place for the Holden Cup finals series in a fortnight.

The Sea Eagles crushed Sydney Roosters 40-16 at Brookvale Oval. It was a massive win considering the Sea Eagles were fourth on the ladder on 29 points with the Roosters one point behind in fifth place.

Outstanding full-back Tom Trbojevic lighted the field up again in scoring the first two tries after missing last week’s win over Parramatta with a knee injury.

Five-eighth and captain Will Pearsall scored the Sea Eagles’ third try with hooker Hugh Pratt converting all three tries for an 18-0 lead at half-time.

2nd Half

Second-rower Billy Bainbridge extended the lead with a try and with Pratt’s conversion, the Sea Eagles led 24-0.

The Roosters opened their account with a try to prop Vincent Leuluai in the 53rd minute. The try was converted to leave the visitors trailing 24-6.

A Roosters fumble led to a try to Manly winger Jesse Bogle. Pratt converted for a 30-6 scoreline after 60 minutes.

A wide pass from Trbojevic saw winger Mitch Thomas go over for a 34-6 lead with 15 minutes remaining.

The Roosters then went over for a try to five-eighth Connor Watson for a 34-10 scoreline before the home side finished with another converted try.
