Manly Warringah Sea Eagles is pleased to announce the contract extension of dynamic full-back Brett Stewart for a further one-year.
Off contract at the end of 2016, Stewart is now secured to the Sea Eagles until the end of the 2017 season.
Stewart’s decision to extend his contract is a vote of confidence in the Club’s future.
“I am a very pleased to have my current contract extended,’’ Stewart said.
“The Sea Eagles have been a massive part of my life for a long time now and to know I am here until at least the end of the 2017 season is very exciting.
“I am very happy here at Manly Warringah and look forward to playing a major role in getting the Club back to the top where we belong.”
CEO Joe Kelly was delighted with Stewart’s extension.
“Brett has been a tremendous player for thirteen years at the Sea Eagles and we are thrilled to have extended his current contract until the end of 2017,” Kelly said.
“He remains one of the best full-backs in the NRL competition and his experience is invaluable to some of our exciting young players such as Tom Trbojevic.”
Stewart made his NRL and Club debut against Parramatta in round 17 of the 2003 season. He has played 220 games for the Sea Eagles and was a member of the 2008 and 2011 premiership winning teams. He has played 8 games for NSW and represented Australia in 2007.
Nicknamed ‘Snake’ or the ‘Prince of Brookvale’ for his unbelievable tryscoring efforts at home, Stewart has scored 86 tries for the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.
He needs two more tries to equal Steve Menzies’ record (88) for most tries scored at Brookvale Oval.
