Saturday night sees two of the best performing teams of the last decade go head to head once again to add another dynamic game to their catalogue of entertaining encounters in this Fiery rivalry.

Rugby league returns to Brookvale oval this Saturday for the first time this year and what better way to kick it off, with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles taking on arch nemesis, Melbourne Storm, for their round two clash.

The clashes between these two sides have been well documented over the last 10 years, ranging from Melbourne’s one point win last season at Brookvale, to Manly’s 40-0 Grand Final triumph.  No matter what time in the season, or how important the clash, you can expect to the two teams to fire up.

Manly will be looking to get there first win of the season under their belts in front of the Brookvale faithful Saturday night after a disappointing round one loss to the Parramatta Eels.  Where as, Melbourne will look to build on their round one result against the St George Illawarra Dragons.

“Immediately from last week we need to start thinking about game against the Melbourne storm and that’s what we done,” Said, Brenton Lawrence.

Many fans and critics have noted that these two giants have fallen behind the playing field this season, with aging sides and weakened forward packs.  Something, which Manly forward Brenton Lawrence takes to heart:

“It does, its something that I take personally and I’m sure that’s to be expected but there is still a lot of pride our pack and it probably doesn’t really matter what peoples views are at the end of the day it about what we are doing with our actions”

Both sides are very similar in size and structure.  Manly’s dream team backline welcomes back Steve Matai, for his first game of the season and along with Matai, Manly have called up Jack Littlejohn to Five-Eighth to replace the injured Kieran Foran.  The Melbourne Storm have so far announced an unchanged line up from their Monday night clash, with the big three all set to play.

The round two clash looks set to be an intriguing one, with many questions being asked.  Can Manly’s experience and deadly backline outscore Melbourne’s pace men?  Will the Storm forward pack be able to repeat Parramatta’s demolition of Manly’s forward men? And can Matt Ballin go toe for toe with the master Cameron Smith. All these questions will be answered Saturday night, when the Rugby league returns to Brookvale!

"We love Brookie and we know the fans do, the locals and the not so locals, it’s good to see everyone on the hill and in the stands and get out there at Brookvale.  It’s always a great place to play footy.”
