Clinton Gutherson is glad the four months of grueling pre-season training is behind Manly as his side now focus on Friday night’s season opener against Parramatta.

“Everyone’s sick of training and not training, so everyone is going to get out there and rip in on Friday night,” Gutherson said.

The off-season departure of Anthony Watmough from Manly to Parramatta is sure to add extra spice as the two teams look to kick off their 2015 campaign with a win.

“It will be a bit weird for him (Watmough) and the club I guess but it’s just another game of footy to everyone else,” Gutherson said.

The Sea Eagles were ran down 22-12 the last time these two teams met at Pirtek Stadium, however this around the Eels are without last year’s Dally M winner, Jarryd Hayne.

“Jarryd was one of the best in the game when he left but they have got a really strong team, probably one of the strongest they’ve had in a while. They are going to be a tough challenge and they are going to be competitive this year,” Gutherson said.

With injuries in Manly’s back line expected to keep certain players sidelined, Gutherson is hopeful of lining up in the side on Friday night.

“There are a few injuries so hopefully I can get a start. We’ll just have to wait and see later in the week. Doesn’t matter where I play, I’ll just be happy to get back on the field and play some footy,” Gutherson said.
