Recruit Feleti Mateo speaks to Sea Eagles TV for the first time since returning from the Christmas break.

Q. Well Feleti, how have you found your time at the Sea Eagles so far?

A. Yeah, in Narrabeen now. The locals have been great to me. They’ve been very supportive and welcoming, so I’m loving the beaches and loving the new club.

Q. How is preseason training going?

A. Training has been awesome. I’m really finding my feet with the new boys and just enjoying my time here. The coaching staff have been awesome.

Q. You arrive here with a few old friends at the club, who are they?

A. I’ve known Justin Horo probably the longest, since wee pup. I’ve known him since about 17, so it’s good to get back with him and hopefully sort out a little combination there.

Q. Will you be putting your hand up to play in the Auckland Nines?

A. Unfortunately last year I got injured just before it and didn’t get to play, but this year would be nice if I can get across the ditch there and hopefully get a win for Manly.

Q. Is your objective to cement a spot in the starting 13?

A. Yeah maybe, anywhere in the 17 would be nice. I’ll obviously have to work my way into the team. There’s already some good established back rowers here, so it’s going to be hard but I’m trying my hardest to get in there.
