With a number of veteran forwards having moved on at the end of the 2013 season, the door opened for James Hasson to obtain bigger minutes and more responsibility in 2014.

His injection off the bench provided coach Geoff Toovey with extra grunt and speed up front, carrying the ball with great purpose and velocity.

The versatile prop forward cemented his spot in Toovey’s 17, playing 18 games this season, seven more than in his rookie season in 2013.

Hasson avoided the dreaded nudie run when he crossed the line for the first time this season against the Panthers in round 25.

The Ireland international is contracted to the Sea Eagles until the end of 2015.
