An injury during the NRL nines limited Tom Symonds’ impact to the start of the season. However, overall 2014 was a successful year for the back-rower.

In his 20 appearances this season, Symonds started 10 from the bench before finishing the year in the starting back row.  He was consistent and always got the job done for Geoff Toovey’s, playing an integral role in helping Manly finish in the top two.

In attack he averaged nine runs for 70 metres, scored six tries, made six line breaks and provided another dimension for the Sea Eagles with his ball playing skills on the edge of the ruck.

Defensively he averaged 22 tackles a game and formed a formidable combination with his halfback Daly Cherry Evans on the right edge.

2014 saw Symonds bring up his 50th first grade game, and having resigned with Manly for a further two years, he will be looking to add to that in the near future.
