Despite a recent run of poor results. NSW Cup coach Luke Williamson remains positive heading into today’s clash against Mounties at Aubrey Keech Reserve.

“I think again we certainly improved a little bit last week.  I know the Score line didn’t suggest this but we found a little bit of continuity leading into this week, which is a first for us”.

“There was some good effort from a few players and we are looking for the same to hopefully continue and build from this week”.

While Willo was content with part of his side’s performances in recent weeks, he conceded the effort in defence needs to improve if they are to compete week-in-week-out.

“I think it’s been one of our biggest challenges to date. We can score points when we want too but we also have to defend”.

“Defending, penalties and errors are some big things that we need to work on”.

Williamson knows that today’s task is a big test for his side and targeted a few Mounties names that his players will need to be on the lookout for.

“They’ve got some good depth and good players. Mitch Cornish at half, he’s played first grade, he directs them round quite good”.

“Jake Foster is a back rower for them who is quite good, he’s quite capable of scoring points as well”.

Always the optimist despite having numerous injuries this year, Williamson believes if his side focuses on their own game and sticks to the structures that have been put in place, they’re quite capable of beating anyone on their day.

“It’s probably a matter of us focusing on our own little things and taking it play by play”.

“As mentioned earlier we’ve got similar players from last week, so hopefully we can try and continue on our combinations and build from there and put our best foot forward”.
