Seage set to soar at Sea Eagles

New Sea Eagles signing Jason Seage slipped into the squad last week just before the first trial against the Sharks.

But with Kieran Foran representing the Sea Eagles in the NRL All Stars in Brisbane, Seage was thrown straight into the thick of things.

The former Parramatta junior trained under Sea Eagles assistant coach Brad Arthur at the Eels and Arthur was quick to recognise his talent.

"He's a lively character, a typical half, cheeky and certainly not shy," Arthur said.

"And that shows in his footy. He's really energetic, he's on the ball.

"He's got a good running game and he's brave in defence. So he's very busy, like a typical halfback."

Seage honed his flashy, lightning-fast style playing rugby sevens and is sure to make the most of his opportunities this year.

Arthur believes he's still got plenty to learn but with two of the game's legendary halves - Geoff Toovey and Andrew Johns - as coaches, Seage has already made a step in the right direction.

"He's still probably learning the role of a dominant halfback but he looks good when he carries the footy," Arthur said.

"He's got great footwork and training under two great halves like Tooves and Joey is only going make him better."
