NRL Legends take on Avalon
Friday 15 February 2013 3:29 PM
In what will be a spectacular local “season launch” on the Peninsula for Rugby League in 2013 Avalon Junior Rugby League Club has organised a game that should not be missed by all those who love rugby league.
The NRL Legends will be visiting Hitchcock Park, home of the Avalon Bulldogs, for a Charity Shield Game against Avalon's finest players, past and present, on Saturday February 16.
Some of the Legends playing for the NRL Team include Greg Florimo, Shawn Timmins, Craig Hancock, Jack Elsegood, Gene Gnamu, Billy Moore, Owen Cunningham, David O’Donnell, Jamie Goddard, Josh Stuart, Bryan Fletcher, Nigel Roy, and Matt Sears to name a few. They will be coached by Tony Butterfield. The word is the boys are keen to go hard against the might of the Avalon Bulldogs. After all, reputations are at stake!
Avalon have pulled out the big guns to ensure victory on the day, with ex-Avalon (and Manly) great Sam Harris coming out of retirement to lead the way for the Bulldogs. Avalon has a reputation as always being hard to beat at the Doggie Dome and coach Craig Goozee will ensure the boys are fit and ready to take on anything the NRL boys throw at them.
Round up the kids, the wife, your mates and enjoy this rare opportunity to meet some of the NRL's former greats.
