George Rose got a taste of the Royal treatment when he met His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at Bondi last week.
The Sea Eagles fan favourite joined Prince Charles and fellow Indigenous All Stars Jamie Soward and Jharal Yow Yeh along with a group of Sydney-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander school students for a mentoring session before moving to the beach for a demonstration game of touch footy.
"They showed the Dream Believe Achieve program and what it's about and some of the kids that have been through it," Rose said. "We just sort of had a yarn about the things that we do."
"It was cool, I was just in a bit of shock meeting the Prince!"
ARLC Interim Chief Executive, Shane Mattiske, said it was an honour to have His Royal Highness participate in the mentoring program.
“Our game has demonstrated an enormous commitment to making a positive difference in the community and our Indigenous programs from the Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars to the Learn Earn Legend! School to Work programs are helping change lives.
“This is a real opportunity to showcase the value of our mentoring and leadership program which is just one of the community activities that saw the NRL honoured at the international Beyond Sport Awards as the Governing Body of the Year.”
