Injury Update 600px

Just a few weeks after returning from shoulder surgery, Sea Eagles co-captain Jason King is set to be confined to the sideline once again.

King is facing a long road to recovery after it was revealed he suffered another injury to his other shoulder in the Sea Eagles' intensely physical clash with the Rabbitohs in Round 7.

"Kingy is going to have major shoulder surgery on Thursday and we’re hoping to have him back towards the end of the season," coach Toovey said.

"You’ve got to wait for those things to settle down a little bit before you make the decision on surgery. We decided a few days ago."

Toovey wouldn't speculate on whether his co-captain will return in time for finals.

“We don’t know," he said. "We’ll wait until Friday to determine the extent of the damage."

King returned to the field for the Sea Eagles in Round 4 after a long recovery from pre-season surgery.

The co-captain missed most of the Sea Eagles' 2011 premiership campaign after tearing his pectoral musclee and had persistent issues with his shoulder last year, prompting the off-season operation.

Tom Symonds is hoping to return to the field this week after missing out on facing his former teammates because of a quad strain.
